The Sentamu Academy Learning Trust (SALT) is a Company limited by guarantee and a Charitable Trust. Responsibility for the academies that make up the Trust and for the funds granted by the Parliament for providing education in those academies is entrusted to the Board of Trustees.

The Compass Academy has its own Local Governing Committee (LGC).

I have lived and worked in Hull and across the Humber area for 40 years, within the public sector and with a range of academic organisations, including schools and the Humber Local Economic Partnership. During that time I have been involved in a number of projects at all levels from early years to higher education, such as the Sure Start and Yorkshire and Humber East Lifelong Learning Network.

I have also been a Director and Trustee of several community organisations that have supported learning and skills development in Hull, such as the Learning Shop and Read it Together. Due to this experience I have project, financial and resource management skills. In my leisure time I belong to a community theatre group and I am still a Trustee for a Learning organisation and a volunteer for a community organisation in the local area.

Mrs Jacqui Thompson
PRINCIPAL GOVERNOR

Jacqui joined The Compass Academy (formerly Ashwell Academy) as Principal in December 2017.
Born in Hull, Jacqui moved to Hornsea at the age of 12 and has lived there ever since. As a youngster, she began to play the trombone, piano and enjoyed singing, which led her to Liverpool University where she studied Music. She then trained as a teacher and took up her first post as Head of Music at David Lister High School in Hull. Subsequently, Jacqui has held the posts of Head of Faculty, Educational Consultant and Assistant Headteacher across a number of schools in both Hull and the East Riding, before taking up her first Headship in 2015.

A keen sportswoman, Jacqui still plays competitive tennis and enjoys skiing, sailing & golf. Her other interests include music, reading, gardening & travelling.
